Having introduced Leeds to people such as Machinedrum, Jacques Greene, DJ Rashad, xxxy, Pariah and George Fitzgerald – this one is shaping up to be the most special one yet…

MACHINEDRUM – Berlin [Luckyme, Planet Mu]
One half of Sepalcure, Machinedrum, will be coming back after tearing the roof off Wire at the last Modulate last March. Originally from New York and now residing in Berlin, Machinedrum’s past year has been monumental – releasing a string of EP’s and most notably dropping his incredible album ‘Rooms’ on Planet Mu. Its a pleasure to bring him back to Leeds.

SINJIN HAWKE – Barcelona [Pelican Fly]
Canadian born Sinjin Hawke joins Modulate for his first UK show. His debut EP ‘The Lights’ fuses his own brand of RNB spliced dance music that is unmistakable, setting 2012 to be Sinjin’s breakout year. Make sure you catch this special one-off appearance.

ELIPHINO – London [Brownswood, Somethinksounds]
Fellow ex-Leeds resident, Eliphino, has been making some big waves in recent months, from releasing on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood compilation, to releasing 2 EP’s courtesy of Somethingsounds. It didn’t take long for his ‘More Than Me’ EP to sell out, you’ll be hard pushed to find a DJ who doesn’t have this one in his bag.

BEHLING & SIMPSON – Bristol [Future Boogie, Apple Pips]
Bristol-based duo Behling & Simpson are quickly becoming two of the most talked about newcomers in house music, having already remixed the likes of Juilo Bashmore and Crazy P, signing to Appleblim’s Apple Pips label, and dropping one of the smoothest slow house jams of the year with their re-edit of Faith Evans.

As usual support comes from LOUIS SAVILLE and Infrasonics’ own JAMIE GRIND…

Powered by the massive Funktion One Soundsystem

Drinks offers

11pm – 4:00am

£8 on the door. Get down early to avoid disappointment…

In terms of what they have now the WAFFLE KNIT is probably our favourite piece at the moment.
The photographic T-shirts as well offer an interesting and more stimulating imagery to t-shirting.

Ok we don’t write reviews or commentary’s as we aren’t blessed with sublime writing and commentary capabilities, (unless we’re talking sneakers) to write well enough to steer your opinion on the magazine. JUST GO CHECK IT OUT YOURSELF It’s there for your viewing, so go and see it on http://justanothermagazine.tumblr.com/ . We like to promote other up and coming projects which this is one of. But it doesn’t need hyping from us. Once you give it a read you are guaranteed to be yearning for more and more issues. Looking forward to the future of JustAnotherMagazine

Following the success of Humor, the danish menswear fashion brand that has taken the uk by storm over the past few years, especially of the Humor drop crotch jeans/trousers, and the vividly graphic knitwear and t-shirts. OK when we first met the guys in Denmark a few years back before their success, it was chemistry at first, we were an indie retailer and those guys were this indie brand willing to stay on that route. But with crazy success i suppose those ideas go down the pan, i guess its difficult to turn down massive orders. As much as we are happy for Humor we feel, the brand was too big for what we are about.

HOWEVER due to public demand. We have spread our wings into womens wear, and it was a natural progression for us to take on NUMPH, the unofficial Humor sister brand. We feel that the streetwear and urban fashion angle that we try and deliver is very difficult to capture what ladies want but we feel the desings and patterns of what NUMPH offers is perfect for the ladies that appreciate quality streetwear that comes with elegance. Its not the streetwear that has women dressed in bright coloured hoodies, tracksuits etc, that some ladies may think makes them more masculine that hip.

In the Numph high summer collection we are highly anticipating the, IZA SHIRT, AMALIE KNIT CARDIGAN, JASMIN KNIT DRESS, LOLLEAH DRESS, TAMIE PANTS, TANYA DRESS among other pieces which are pretty strong in the collection.

No wonder the likes of ASOS, HOUSE OF FRASER, and many other retailers are now stocking Numph. As Numph caters for all women with dresses, tops trousers knits etc that caters for both for the mainstream commercial fashion that a TOPSHOP kinda girl, and a HOUSE OF FRASER woman. But the beauty of their collection is it also caters for a more hip and more daring (STEADYGUY) kinda girl with street cred SWAG.

Check out the high summer collection

Ontour has come from strength to strength over the last couple of years for a brand just over six years old they have come along really well. With minimum spend on pr, hype and marketing this Dutch brand has let it ever impronoving design do the talking. Any man that appreciates great design with few gimmicks will have come across Ontour. We have carried Ontour for the last couple of years and with every season they continue to impress us. Ok at the moment there are brands like PENFIELD, which seem timeless and even break age groups and this is exactly what Ontour does. As the founders Remco and Etienne have grown older this has been evident in the design elements and the elegance that now comes through in the collections. What we love though is how they have managed to still cater for the younger audience. This is a brand that young men in theri late teens and early twenties can rock with their style conscious dad’s and none of them look out of place.

When we had a pop up store in Leeds all age groups were loving what Ontour do and this season has not been a let down, getting rave reviews from HYPEBEAST and all the streetwear blogs and media because of their triumphs in the totally individual spring summer look. The SHELTER PARKA 2.0 being an excellent development on last season SHELTER 1.0. The shirting department for us here has been a cut above the rest of the Streetwear Shirting releases, The ONTOUR SHADOW SHIRT, THE MCFLY SHIRT, And the CARGO SHIRT among others have all been truimphs. The success in the shirting area is backed up by the T-shirt range which features among many great designs THE GRAVITY t-shirt, The ONTOURISM, THE SHADOW and the BEAM ME UP t-shirt which have sent ripples in the streetwear game. With the refreshing perspective of a Dutch brand in the Streetwear game that is dominated by American brands has meant these guys have given us a trully solid collection, which also manages to capture the attention of those outside the street fashion scene.

ONTOUR SPRING SUMMER 2001 available in stores now and some pieces are available here

When you hear of eco friendly and or sustainable products there is are instant alarm bells as to the aesthetic standard of a product. Ok maybe not so much now as before when it was a time when eco friendly and/or sustainable meant the whole hippy vibe and more focus on these elements and utilitarianism to the detriment of aesthetics and style. Yeah of course sustainable product design has come a long way now in terms of packaging and with gadgets, but I feel in fashion there is still a long way to go, (apart from the resurgence of Vintage Fashion has done its bit in encouraging the recycling of fashion). Many new ideas have struggled to move from the “hippy” vibe and designers have struggled to break away from that to create eco friendly/sustainable fashion products which cut the mustard in terms of fulfilling the requirements of contemporary up to date designs.

Being a firm believer in the saying that “one of the hardest things to achieve in truly good design in simplicity”, BAGGU BAGS have really come up with a range of simple cost effective, contemporary range of re usable eco friendly stylish bags. With BAGGU, ladies in LA are now feeling stylish coming from the grocery store with a BAGGU bag that they can reuse day in day out. They Have made a range of bags that include the STANDARD BAGGU, BIG BAGGU, DUCK BAG and a BEACH BAG all made out of recylcled cotton. The design ethos of their bags and their colour palate reminds me of the days when the Scandinavian brand WOOD WOOD came on the scene, good clean simple effective design but what’s awesome about BAGGU is that it helps us do our bit for the planet. That’s why we love Baggu Bags available here <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-111"

Baggu Standard

[caption id="attachment_351" align="alignleft" width="400" caption="Sailor Stripe Big Baggu"][/caption]title=”13069_189073967625_189038177625_2788083_3416394_n” src=”http://steadyguy.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/13069_189073967625_189038177625_2788083_3416394_n.jpg” alt=”" width=”604″ height=”489″ />

I love my M6 Opening Ceremony boots, I love the lightweightness, the gorgeous dearskin and waxed laces. But the Soulland one, which is about the same price at the M6s boasts the same contrast white lightweight sole (the ones on Opening Ceremony have deeper grips), lovely leather and has that detail on the back of the ankle that makes it more special, I think. In my opinion, if you are going to invest in a pair of smart casual shoes for work and play, make sure it is leather. We here at Steadyguy are massively excited about getting the first European drops of this exciting brand of footwear. There has been a lot of hype about their work, hence being featured in some top publications such as Jille, Samurai and Elle Japan, Cleo Australia, and getting a feature in Sneakerfreaker.com on their Mode Hi release. Study footwear are one of those brands taking a pretty hands on approach to what they do and are very much involved in many community projects. They give donations in the form of stationary and other Study related equipment to schools that need them around the world. What I love about what these guys is, apart from the community charity and donations, they are doing design competitions for students as well. I think this is a stroke of genius on various levels. When I was in art and design school I would have loved to be part of something like this, i would have been so enthused to work harder just because my work could end up being part of an actual pair of kicks line. Yes of course adidas, nike and new balance have done similar projects, but this one has this sort of organic element to the way that the brand is growing (rapidly) with its clientèle contributions and also feeding on the creative prowess and mentality of the kids out there that are clued on about street art and give the brand as a whole a new fresh approach to design. The new fresh approach to the use of colours, patterns and very daring designs make me really excited about the upcoming stuff from Study footwear. Being a sneaker head for more that 15 years I have seen a lot of footwear and am not easily impressed. The guys have made pumps for women look cool again, these guys have even made leopard print work on a pair in their collection. The use of leopard print to me personally is like design rape (excuse the language) but I have to eat my hat on this and say they have pulled it off. Though be it Study is a unisex brand the leopard print pumps would look more natural on a young lady’s size 5 foot than a size 10, but hey he who dares. We usually specialise in menswear and men’s footwear but as far as womenswear and women’s footwear goes, we recommend all women have a look and see what they think of these sneakers especially coming into the summer time wehere boots and hi tops may be a bit too much.

Born out of the desire to wear something different from the other four people in the club dressed the same as you, Peasoup Clothing produces fresh and interesting limited edition tees that they are proud to tell people they made.
Thing is there is stuff out there at the price range these guys are offering. Fine. But check out the graphics and the prints these guys have in their line.

Wicked brand wicked philisophy and the best thing for us is we are poised to work with Peasoup Clothing. Watch this space. But in the meantime check their website support these guys and their stuff makes good christmas gifts for those cool kids you are struggling to find a gift for.
